The 23rd Annual Kwanzaa Celebration hosted by the Africentric Focus/Maat Study group of Baton Rouge will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 29 at the Southern University Cotillion Ballroom.

Kwanzaa is a celebration of family, community and culture that is celebrated over seven days starting Dec. 26 with each day focusing on a different principle. On Dec. 29, the focus will be on the principle Ujamaa or cooperative economics.

Featured speaker will be Maulana Karenga, professor and chair of African studies at California State University, Long Beach.
