Detectives in Assumption Parish are investigating the Wednesday night shooting of an 18-year-old man in the 200 block of Daggs Street in Belle Rose, according to a news release.

The victim, who lives on Daggs Street, was shot in the chest area and was treated at Assumption Community Hospital before being transported to a Baton Rouge area hospital for additional treatment, Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Waguespack said in the release.

A resident called authorities and reported a fight on Daggs Street and hearing gunshots just before 9:30 p.m., Waguespack said.

No arrests have been made, Waguespack said.
