A mother and daughter were killed early Wednesday morning in a mobile home fire in Holden while the father and three other children managed to escape, State Fire Marshal Butch Browning said.
The deadly blaze started just after 12:30 a.m. at 25520 Hob Hodges Road, Browning said.
Browning said the cause of the fire is under investigation but nothing looks suspicious.
“There were no smoke alarms and multiple space heaters being used in the home at the time,” Browning said.
Browning said the father tried to get the entire family out of the home but couldn’t.
The father and three children were taken to a local hospital with smoke inhalation injuries but nothing life threatening, Browning said.
The names and ages of the victims have not been released yet.
