Firefighters are investigating the cause of a Tuesday morning blaze that gutted the detached kitchen of the New Revelation Ministries church on North Acadian Thruway West.
Firefighters were called the building just after 5 a.m., according to a Baton Rouge Fire Department news release.
A neighbor woke up smelling smoke and discovered the fire and called authorities, the release says.
The fire started in the back of the building and destroyed that portion of the building before the fire was under control, the release says.
The building is a detached structure from the church used to cook and sell meals, according to the release.
Heat from the fire caused some damage to the outside of a home behind the building, the release says.
No one was injured.
