Baton Rouge has been selected as the site for the Louisiana Marathon on Jan. 15, the culmination of three days of events that include live bands, Louisiana beer and healthy twists on local cuisine, a news release says.

Rocket Racing, organizers of the event, describes the 26.2-mile course as “runner-friendly.” The course will follow the Mississippi River, through historic neighborhoods and around the LSU campus and lakes. Children can run in the final 1.2-mile leg, the Rocketkidz Marathon.

There will also be a half-marathon on Jan. 15, and a 5K fun run will be held on Jan. 14.
