Detectives arrested a 16-year old juvenile Tuesday in a suspected drug deal shooting that seriously injured Metro Councilman Chandler Loupe’s 15-year-old son.
The 16-year-old was arrested on one count of attempted first-degree murder and three counts of attempted armed robbery in the Feb. 3 shooting that occurred in the 1600 block of Mary Lou Drive, Baton Rouge Police spokesman Sgt. Don Kelly said Tuesday in a news release.
A 15-year-old who was with the councilman’s son when he was shot was arrested Friday.
Loupe’s son was shot in the chest during the incident and taken to a local hospital, police have said.
The 15-year-old arrested Friday was placed into the East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Detention Center on a count of attempted possession of marijuana, police have said.
The 16-year-old arrested Tuesday was also placed into the East Baton Rouge Parish Juvenile Detention Center, Kelly said.
None of the teens’ names were released.
The investigation is continuing and additional arrests are still possible, Kelly said.
