A motorist is in the hospital with serious injuries after leading authorities on a car chase late Thursday from Ascension Parish to East Baton Rouge Parish and back to Ascension before crashing the vehicle and flipping over, Louisiana State Police said Friday.
The motorist, whose name has not been released, will be booked into the Ascension Parish Jail with aggravated flight from an officer, DWI, no seat belt, reckless operation, hit and run and careless operation after he gets out of a local hospital, State Police Troop A spokesman Russell Graham said.
The chase ended at La. 73 and Airline Highway in Ascension after the man’s vehicle flipped over and crashed, Graham said.
The driver was ejected, Graham said.
The motorist, who had been drinking, forced other vehicles off the road during the pursuit , Graham said.
