School trips to the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium in Cocodrie are now being set for the 2011-2012 school year.

The consortium’s main facilities are located at the DeFelice Marine Center in Cocodrie which is about 85 miles southwest of New Orleans.

LUMCON’s kindergarten through high school program staff provides a number of activities for students including brackish water pond sampling, bayou water quality sampling, salt marsh canoeing, plankton laboratory, guided tours of the marine center or educational cruises of bay and salt marsh areas.
