The public is invited to celebrate two new LSU Press books to be released in March by local authors Alex V. Cook, a music critic, feature writer and magazine scribe and Suzanne Perron, a fashion designer.
Cook’s latest title, “Louisiana Saturday Night: Looking for a Good Time in South Louisiana’s Juke Joints, Honky-Tonks, and Dance Halls,” will be launched at 8 p.m. Saturday at Teddy’s Juke Joint, 16999 Old Scenic Highway in Zachary.
The launch is free and will feature the sounds of One More Time, as well as a chance to purchase autographed copies of “Louisiana Saturday Night.” Cook’s travelogue captures the people, places and festivals that define the Gumbo State’s indigenous musical culture.
The career, artistry and gowns of Perron will be celebrated from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 14 at the Old Governor’s Mansion, 502 North Blvd.
The champagne celebration of Perron’s book, “Designing in Ivory & White,” will also feature her custom made debutante, wedding and Mardi Gras gowns.
Tickets for this event are available at http://www.regonline.com/ivoryandwhite. All proceeds will benefit LSU Press, a non-profit publisher.
