The Baton Rouge Fire Department will have a grand opening ceremony Thursday for the new Fire Station No. 6.
The ceremony will be at 5321 Greenwell Springs Road, according to a Fire Department news release.
The new station replaces the current Fire Station No. 6 which was originally constructed in 1951 at 3820 Gus Young Ave.
The new building is slightly less than 8,000 square feet in size and has room for two bays for several pieces of fire department equipment and personnel to man each unit.
The architect for the new fire station was Crump Wilson Architects. The contractor was Blount Construction.
