The State Mineral and Energy Board’s January lease sale generated more than $2 million in bonuses, lifting the fiscal 2011-2012 total to more than $18.6 million, according to the state Department of Natural Resources.

The board awarded 24 leases Wednesday covering more than 5,517 acres. The state had offered 50 tracts covering more than 44,900 acres.

Of the 24 leases, 18 were in the southern parishes while six were in north Louisiana. The leases were sold in Allen, Bienville, DeSoto, East Carroll, Evangeline, Iberia, Jefferson Davis, Natchitoches, Plaquemines, Pointe Coupee, St. Landry and St. Martin parishes.
