A pedestrian was killed after he was hit by an oncoming car on U.S. 167 near Interstate 49 Friday night, Louisiana State Police reported.

Michael Andrus, 41, of Palmetto, was crossing the northbound lanes of U.S. 167 at about 9:30 p.m. when he was hit by the car, the State Police report says.

Betty Robert, 61, of Opelousas, was driving her 1998 Mercury Marquis when she hit the man walking across the federal highway.

The St. Landry Parish Coroner’s Office has reported that Andrus was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police report that Robert was not impaired and a toxicology sample was taken from Andrus.
