A pedestrian was struck by a car Thursday in the 9200 block of South Choctaw Drive and is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries, Baton Rouge police said in a news release.

The incident occurred at 12:20 a.m., according to the news release.

When police arrived, they found a man lying in the roadway after he was struck by a 1993 Geo Prism, the release says.

The man was hit in the eastbound lane, the release says.

The Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating. No other information was available Thursday morning.
