Major road improvements on Jones Creek Road have been completed as part of the city-parish’s Green Light Plan, according to a city-parish news release.
Mayor-President Kip Holden will host a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday marking the end of the latest completed road project of the Green Light Plan.
The ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. near Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3701 Jones Creek Road.
With a total construction cost of $12.4 million, the improvements to Jones Creek Road include the widening of the previous two-lane, undivided roadway to a new, four-lane roadway that includes sidewalks, a raised median from Coursey Boulevard to South Harrell’s Ferry Road, and allows for bicycle access along the roadway.
The improvements included within the project also include major bridge upgrades consisting of a new bridge crossing Jones Creek, shoulders and sidewalks on both sides of the bridge, and the re-alignment of the roadway at Jones Creek.
