A liquefied natural gas importer has upped the amount of fuel it will buy from a proposed Louisiana liquefaction facility to 5.5 million metric tons a year, 2 million more than under a previous agreement.

The deal between subsidiaries of BG Group PLC and Houston-based Cheniere Energy Partners LP was announced Thursday.

The changes mean Cheniere’s Sabine Pass facility now has deals in place for 12.5 million metric tons of the plant’s 18 million tons of production.

Cheniere plans to use the sale agreements to borrow the billions of dollars needed to build the liquefaction facility.
