If you’re looking for a country home in the woods, this isn’t it. But if a stunning, contemporary style statement in the Country Club of Louisiana is more what you’d like, we should talk. When you walk through the double etched glass front doors of the home at 17903 W. Augusta Drive, you know you’ve arrived at a unique place. You might not like it; or you might fall instantly in love. But this home makes a big statement, and you just can’t ignore it.

Although this CCLA offering has 4,839 square feet of living area and more than 5,901 square feet under roof, there are only three bedrooms. Designed around a sunlit fountain courtyard in the middle, the home’s private areas are on one side and the public spaces are on the other. That means there’s plenty of room to spread out on both sides.

We’ll start immediately to the right inside the entry, where Italian marble tile is the flooring of choice for the great room. Actually, Italian marble floors most of the home other than the carpeted bedrooms and some other spaces. Marble also surrounds the great room’s corner fireplace and stretches to the tall ceiling. Large double-pane Marvin windows shed lots of light, which reflects on the great room’s mirrored accent wall.

Visitors quickly notice something about this home: light dances through dozens of windows and skylights and bounces off the marble floors and light walls, making this place airy, clean and refreshing. The rooms are big, the ceilings are tall and there’s just a “Big Sky” feeling about this CCLA residence.

The kitchen, for example, has curved white cabinetry that rolls to a custom white SubZero that matches the cabinets. Black, white and shades in between are dominant. The counters and center island are topped with granite slabs, and so is a bar that separates the kitchen from the breakfast room, which has a tall, bright skylight. A glass cook top is on one counter, and there’s a triple cast iron and porcelain farm sink below one of the windows. There’s also a sink on the island, a warming drawer and double wall ovens. A large rectangular fixture hanging above the island fills the kitchen with more bright, clean fluorescent light. On the other side, a butler’s bar sits atop glass blocks and has a wine refrigerator, a sink and an icemaker.

The butler’s bar is convenient to the home’s sunken den/media room, which has a theater and sound system that will remain. Behind the media room, the home’s office could be a fourth bedroom. There are two laundry rooms in the home, one on each wing.

Go left from the entry and you’ll be in the home’s private living section. There’s a bedroom in front, one in the middle and the master suite is in back. Five windows and a corner fireplace highlight the master bedroom, which has a sitting area and an exit to the center courtyard. Double doors lead to the cavernous master bath, which has stark black and white vanity setups. A big whirlpool tub and a walkin shower are on one side. The big master closet has hanging space for days, as well as a dresser. A pair of skylights in the master bath allows plenty of natural light.

Meanwhile, the center courtyard has a brick water feature with a waterfall, as well as planters and lots of greenery along the sides. Windows line the side of the courtyard, allowing views from most spots in the house. The home also has a large fenced back yard and a double garage with a workshop.
