The Capital Region Builders Association is hosting the annual Parade of Homes this weekend and next weekend, showcasing 41 homes in 33 subdivisions throughout a four-parish area.

The Parade of Homes is free and open to the public.

CRBA builder members have scrambled in the past few weeks to put the finishing touches on the homes, which are all new. Louisiana loves to party, especially outdoors, and many of the new homes feature outdoor kitchens, pools, home theaters and other amenities homeowners desire.

“This year’s Parade of Homes showcases new homes of all sizes and architectural styles,” said CRBA President Rusty Golden. “We know visitors will be keenly interested in the vast array of new products and design ideas. We encourage the community to tour the homes and to talk with the builders about the home’s features during the free parade.”

The parade comes each year during the spring, when home buying activity usually peaks.

“Now is a great time to purchase a new home,” said CRBA Executive Vice President Lynda Evans. “Interest rates are low and financing is more readily available. The energy efficiency that comes with the new appliances, windows, heating and cooling units to name a few can actually put you in a new home with monthly payments less than what rental units are going for.”

Builders and Realtors will be on hand in many of the homes to answer questions and help home shoppers. The majority (26) of the homes are in East Baton Rouge Parish, and 12 are located in Ascension Parish. There are two homes in West Baton Rouge Parish and one in Iberville Parish. A complete list of parade homes is printed in today’s HOMES section.

Prices for the homes range from $139,900 to $1,400,000.

Guidebooks highlighting each of the parade homes are available at any of the homes.

Hours of the parade today and next Sunday are from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Next Saturday, parade hours are from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Admission to all homes is free, and the guidebooks are free as well.

Meanwhile, the Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors will have a poker run on Friday May 3 in conjunction with this year’s parade. Cash prizes will be awarded to winners in the poker run. Realtors can pick up score cards at three destinations: 3522 Spanish Trail in Copper Mill, 15820 Green Trails, and 36480 Lake Bend in the Oaks on the Bluff in Ascension Parish. Realtors must visit a minimum of 10 homes on the parade to be eligible to win. Prizes will be awarded at a “Blue Jean Bash” on May 15. For more information or to register for the poker run, visit
