August in Ireland is complete with comfortable temperatures, reflecting highs and lows of 60 and 52.

Showers stay in the forecast and as the saying goes, “If you can see the mountains, it’s about to rain, if you can’t see them, it’s raining.”

It’s raining in the hearts of many in Killarney today as we received word of the death of one of our most notable grand marshals for “The St. Patrick’s Day Parade, The Wearin’ of the Green.”

He was playing golf with his buddies at Lackaban Golf Club and on the 15th tee died of an apparent heart attack. Many of you had the pleasure of meeting Denis Coffey before, during and after the parade as he embraced our town and all that it offered.
