Saturday is Service Academy Day in Baton Rouge where members of the staffs of U.S. Sen. David Vitter, R-La., and U.S. Rep Bill Cassidy, R-Baton Rouge, will be on hand to conduct information sessions on the congressional nomination process.

Most of the military academies require a congressional nomination in order to be considered for admission.

The nomination itself does not guarantee an appointment to the service academy.

The academies make the final selections and offers of appointment.

Service Academy Day will be held at the Louisiana State Archives Building, 3851 Essen Lane.

For more information on how to RSVP for Saturday’s event, call Vitter’s Baton Rouge office at (225) 383-0331 or visit http://vitter.senate.gov/public/index.cfmFuseActionConstituentServices.AcademyNominations
