A fire damaged an apartment Saturday night near Catholic High School, the Baton Rouge Fire Department said.

Firefighters arrived at 636 Carol Marie Drive, at about 10:45 p.m. after two residents reported smelling smoke, according to a Fire Department news release.

Firefighters found flames near the back door of the apartment and extinguished the fire, the news release said. The damage was contained to the area around the door frame and the nearby wall.

Investigations suspect arson as the cause of the fire, according to the release.
