A scientist with Pennington Biomedical Research Center and an Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center official are among those featured in HBO’s four-part documentary, “The Weight of the Nation.”
The documentary took three years to complete and features case studies with leading experts on obesity, as well as individuals and families struggling with obesity. The experts from Louisiana include Stephanie Broyles, an epidemiologist with Pennington; and Coletta Barnett, mission vice president for the Lake; Pam Romero, Let’s Move! Cities & Towns/ State Coordinator Louisiana Dietetic Association; and Dr. Gerald Berenson, founder of the Bogalusa Heart Study, Tulane University School of Medicine.
The documentary debuts at 6 p.m. May 10 at the Manship Theater, 100 Lafayette St. Broyles, Barnett, Romero and Berenson will be on hand to discuss obesity after the screening.
