The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts will hold its fourth annual Arts Gala on Thursday, according to an news release.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. in the Baton Rouge Little Theatre, 7155 Florida Blvd.

The 75-minute production will feature the school’s top talent in music, dance, theatre, visual arts, and creative writing and will be emceed by 2008 graduate, Derrick Toups.

While completing degrees in English and international development at Tulane University, Toups has served as co-founder and creative director at Janus Jamboree and community outreach coordinator at Mission Honduras, and he has just been accepted into the Master of Education program at the University of Notre Dame.

Among the highlights for the 2012 Gala will be a scene from Neil Simon’s “The Good Doctor,” a performance of Maurice Ravel’s “Toccata” from Le Tombeau de Couperin for piano, several pieces from Impulse Dance Theatre, vocal and instrumental performances, and two readings of original poetry.

The event is free and open to the public.
