The Metro Council will hold a special meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the city hall chambers, 222 St. Louis St., to consider approval of the city-parish’s $746 million 2012 budget.

The Metro Council can make line item changes to the budget proposed by Mayor-president Kip Holden, but it takes eight votes to make such a change.

If the Metro Council approves the budget as is, CATS will have to address a $2.1 million budget deficit in 2012. CATS will either cut services by 46 percent next year or shut down in July, CATS officials have said.
