Metairie-based Louisiana Bancorp Inc. reported second-quarter earnings of $994,000, or 38 cents per share, the highest profit the company has generated since going public.

A year earlier, the holding company for Bank of New Orleans earned $616,000, or 22 cents per share.

Louisiana Bancorp said net interest income remained flat at $2.5 million, but the company’s non-interest income rose by $436,000. The improved results came from gains on loans sold and profit from other equity investments.
