Baton Rouge police said they investigated a shooting Tuesday night at a Tigerland Avenue apartment complex that left one man in critical condition.

Officers arrived at the Chateau du Cour Apartments at 4707 Tigerland Ave., about 10:30 p.m. and found a man inside an apartment with a gunshot wound to the head, Capt. Elton Brown said in a news release.

The victim was listed in critical condition Wednesday evening, police spokesman Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said.

Police were still investigating motives and suspects Wednesday, Stubbs said.

Brian Jones, the apartment complex’s manager, said he was about to go to sleep in his apartment across the courtyard when he heard gunshots go off.

Jones said he rushed over to the apartment where he saw a body laying on the floor. He said he saw a bullet wound just above the man’s eyes.

“They didn’t mean for him to live,” Jones said.

Jones said the victim was in the process of moving into the apartment and Jones had only talked to him a few times.
