The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office is looking for Kevin Sheppard, 23. He's a suspect in a Prairieville homicide that occurred on Dec. 23, 2014.

A 22-year-old man is dead and an 18-year-old man is seriously injured after a shooting in Prairieville early Monday morning.

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, Lewis Sanchez, 22, and Joshua Perez, 18, were arguing with three other men while driving in a car. The argument continued when the men stopped on the side of Josh Brown Road to buy drugs.

Once the car was parked, the suspect, Kevin Sheppard, began shooting. Sheppard didn't appear to be involved in the argument, according to APSO.

Sheppard, 23, and another man in the group, Michael Lomas, fled the scene in the group's white 1994 Chevrolet Suburban. About two hours after the incident, Lomas' mother brought her son to APSO's office to meet with investigators.

Sheppard, whose record includes 13 previous arrests, is wanted for first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, carrying of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal use of weapons and illegal carrying of weapons.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact APSO at 225-621-INFO (4636) or to text 847411 to an anonymous tip line.
