Police are investigating a Tuesday night shooting that left a man fighting life-threatening injuries, according to a Baton Rouge Police Department news release.

The shooting occurred just after 10:30 p.m. in the 5100 block of Jean Street.

When police arrived, they found a 34-year-old man laying in the street with a single gunshot wound to his chest, the release says.

Some kind of fight occurred just before the shooting, police said in the release.
