Swedish developer Skanska and joint venture partner MAPP Construction, a Baton Rouge-based construction firm, have secured the second piece of the state contract for the new University Medical Center in New Orleans. Skanska said the second portion of the contract is for $130 million and Skanska’s share is 90 percent, or $118 million.
The contract includes a 258,330-square-foot ambulatory care facility and a 1,355-space parking garage. The hospital is expected to open in February 2015.
The University Medical Center will be a new, state-of-the-art academic Medical Care Campus. Work has started and the hospital is expected to open in February 2015.
Skanska has 53,000 employees worldwide, included 9,300 in the United States. Mapp also has offices in New Orleans, Houston, Dallas and Orlando, Fla.
