Detectives are investigating the Monday morning discovery of a body inside a burning vehicle in the 1500 block of North Ardenwood Drive, according to a Baton Rouge Police Department news release.

Police were called at 2:20 a.m. after receiving a report of a traffic crash and a vehicle on fire, according to the release.

When police arrived, they spotted the vehicle on fire on the east side of the road near a wooded area.

When firefighters put out the blaze, they found the body of an unidentified person inside, according to the release.

There were no witnesses to the crash and it appeared that only one car was involved.

Police did not release any other information Monday morning.
