LAFAYETTE - The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has announced David Breaux will begin his duties as the new dean of its Graduate School on Monday, according to a news release.

Breaux replaces C. Eddie Palmer, who retired earlier this summer. Breaux’s appointment is pending approval by the UL System Board of Supervisors.

Breaux previously served as associate dean of academic affairs for the College of Arts and Sciences at Mississippi State University. A native of Houma, he holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Kentucky, a master’s degree in political science from the University of New Orleans and a bachelor’s degree in government from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux.
