The contemporary art-focused Baton Rouge Gallery is accepting applications for new artist members.

The BREC facility is a cooperative gallery, and its artist members help make decisions ranging about the art gallery’s future. The gallery has more than 50 members, who are professional artists skilled in areas ranging from textiles to ceramics to photography to painting.

Applications are due by September 24 and can be filled out on the Baton Rouge Gallery’s website. Members must pay a $35 application fee, and then annual dues of $100.

Applications will be considered based on the quality of the artist’s craftsmanship, the ability to maintain a conceptual focus, the quality of presentation and the breadth of an applicant’s professional experience.

The gallery is also opening its new September exhibition Wednesday, September 2. It will feature textiles, ceramics and photography.

BREC’s Baton Rouge Gallery is located at City Park.
