The Center for the Book will celebrate verse, and you won’t even have to open your purse.
Poets from around the state will read their rhyme at the State Library on April 21 at lunch time.
“Just Listen to Yourself,” is the program’s name, and it will feature Louisiana poets of fame. Ralph Adamo, Darrell Bourque, Peter Cooley, Dorothy Early Davis, Ashley Mace Havird, Andy Young, Madeleine LeCesne and Julie Kane will go, and so will Jack B. Bedell, Alison Pelegrin, Afton Wilky, Carlos Colón, Gina Ferrara, Melinda Palacio and Chancelier Skidmore, also known as Xero.
The program Poet Laureate Ava Leavell Haymon will lead, and you are welcome to come and go as you need. Also allowed is a brown bag lunch, so you can come on a work day and not be in a crunch.
The Louisiana Center for the Book has been part of the State Library since 1994, and it promotes reading, books and more.
