Baton Rouge Community College has announced its 2011-2012 Performing Arts Season schedule.

Steve Mitchell, executive director for public relations and performing arts, said the college’s Performing Arts Series is an integral part of its academic and cultural tradition.

“Through the dedicated support of our Student Government Association, we are able to offer these events to our students at no cost,” he said. “We then work closely with our faculty to intertwine our performing arts events with their curriculum. Students not only are given an opportunity to attend these events, but are able to express their ideas through discussions or writing assignments that relate the performances to their area of study. In addition to our students, our audience always includes guests who are visiting campus for the first time... so it’s a perfect tie-in to our recruitment effort.”

•6:30 p.m. Oct. 25, Baton Rouge Symphony rehearsal education event.
