Fifty years ago, eight local artists banded together and founded Baton Rouge Gallery. You can hear several of them talk about how the gallery came to be on a newly released video “BRG’s Beginnings: 50 Years of Art in Baton Rouge.”
On April 6, you can visit the gallery for its annual REAL-LIFE EXPERIENCE Juried High School Exhibition, featuring the works of East Baton Rouge public and private high school students. This annual exhibit not only encourages and inspires budding artists to pursue their artistic talents by exhibiting their work in a professional gallery setting but “draws attention to the importance of arts education, celebrating both its positive effects on the youths of our community and the efforts of the educators that challenge their students.”
The exhibit hangs through April 28.
