Southern University’s Annual Chancellor’s Concert is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, in the Cotillion Ballroom featuring the Southern University Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble.
The theme of the event is “A Serenade to Spring.”
The Symphonic Band will perform first under the direction of Assistant Director of Bands Nathan Haymer, followed by the Wind Ensemble under the direction of Director of Bands Lawrence Jackson.
“The community should come out because it is a great time to celebrate the centennial,” Jackson says. “It is also a great opportunity for the SU community to hear classical, gospel and Broadway pieces.”
The event is free and open to the public. Early arrival is suggested.
The concert is part of Southern’s yearlong Centennial Celebration of 100 years on the Baton Rouge campus.
