The Kids Orchestra will present 12 free performances in its Spring 2015 Neighborhood Concert Series.

The orchestra is made up of 775 students in second- through fifth-grade from 24 local public, private and charter schools. The series highlights the skills acquired during the Kids Orchestra’s after-school music program, which started in September. Kindergarten and first-grade students also will join in, singing songs featuring music foundation elements.

Students range from four-year veterans who joined the program in its inception those in their first year who got their first instruction this January. All concerts are free and open to the public.

Performance dates are:

Monday at 5:30 p.m., Bernard Terrace Elementary, 241 Edison St., featuring students from Bernard Terrace and Angles Academy.

Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., Westdale Heights Academic Magnet, 2000 College Drive, featuring students from Westdale and LSU Lab School.

Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., Capitol Elementary School, 4141 Gus Young Ave., featuring students from Capitol and Belfair Elementary.

Thursday at 5:30 p.m., Magnolia Woods Elementary, 760 Maxine Drive, featuring students from Magnolia Woods and Wildwood Elementary/

May 5, at 6 p.m., St. James Episcopal Day School, 205 North 4th Street, featuring students from St. James, St. Luke’s Episcopal Day School, The Dufrocq School, Shiloh Baptist Early Learning Academy and LaSalle Elementary.

May 6, at 6 p.m., The Dunham School, 11111 Roy Emerson Drive, featuring students from Dunham and Gardere Community Christian School.

May 7, at 6 p.m., Redemptorist Elementary, 3655 St. Gerard Ave., featuring students from Redemptorist and Brownfields Elementary.

May 11, at 6 p.m., Lanier Elementary, 4705 Lanier Drive., featuring students from Lanier and Jehovah Jireh Christian Academy.

May 12, at 6 p.m., Ryan Elementary, 10337 Elm Grove Garden Drive, featuring students from Ryan and Sharon Hills Elementary.

May 14, at 6 p.m., Dalton Charter Elementary, 3605 Ontario St., featuring students from Dalton Elementary.

In addition to the concert series, the Kids’ Orchestra Honors Orchestra Spring Concert is set for 4 p.m. Saturday, May 9, in the Christian Life Fellowship Sanctuary, 2037 Quail Drive.
