Tickets are on sale for Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre’s third annual fundraiser, Dancin’ In The Streets, set for 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, in the Great Hall at Perkins Rowe.
The event has been called the capital city’s biggest dance party and will feature live music by Phat Hat and ticket chances to win “The Ultimate Tiger Band Game Day Experience,” where two guests will be able to attend the LSU Tiger Marching Band’s game day rehearsal, eat a catered meal with the band, accompany the band in its march to the stadium and attend the Tiger Athletic foundation tailgate party inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Guests also will be able to sit with the Tiger Band at a home football game. This package is valid for any 2011 football season home game with the exception of the Oct. 1 and Oct. 8 games.
Also included in this prize is the choice between a 42-inch flat screen television from Olinde’s or the detoxifying relaxation package from The Medical Spa of Baton Rouge.
As for Dancin’ In The Streets, Perkins Rowe merchants and other Baton Rouge area restaurants will provide appetizers and drinks.
Advance tickets are $25 before Friday, Aug. 19. Tickets will be $35 at the door. Tickets are $10 for a chance to win “The Ultimate Tiger Band Game Day Experience.”
Dancin’ In The Streets is the third annual fundraiser for the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre, and supports its community outreach programs and major productions, which reach more than 40,000 audience members each year.
The event also kicks off the ballet theater’s 2011-2012 season, which is under the artistic direction of Molly Buchmann and Sharon Mathews.
Tickets also are on sale for the upcoming season, which includes:
?7:30 p.m. Oct. 11, Houston Ballet II, Baton Rouge River Center Theatre for the Performing Arts. This is the Houston Ballet’s second company, whose repertoire includes both classical and contemporary works.
?2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Dec. 17-18, The Nutcracker - A Tale from the Bayou, Baton Rouge River Center Theatre for the Performing Arts.
?7:30 p.m. April 19, 2012, From This Pointe On ?, Baton Rouge River Center Theatre for the Performing Arts. This is Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre’s spring concert.
