Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre’s Ballet for Children is taking reservations for its spring tour, “Journey to the Emerald City: Healthy Stops and Healthy Swaps.”
Directed by Michele Ball, a registered dietitian and professional dancer, Ballet for Children’s in-school performance introduces students to dance and nutrition through humorous dialogue woven between original choreography.
“Journey to the Emerald City: Healthy Stops and Healthy Swaps” brings Cajun Marie out of Louisiana and into the magical land of Oz as familiar characters such as Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow and the Tin Man demonstrate concepts of good nutrition and exercise.
Ballet for Children is designed for elementary-age schoolchildren and includes an audience participation portion. The program includes a study guide of key terms and discussion questions for teachers to incorporate into classroom instruction.
Ballet for Children will travel to elementary schools in the greater Baton Rouge area. The performance fee of $575 averages a cost of $1 to $2 per student at most schools.
