The Louisiana Art and Artists’ Guild has announced the winners of its 2015 National River Road Art Show, which ran through December at the Louisiana State Archives.

This was the 46th continuous show for this national competition, which was made up of 73 works of art from 11 states.

Award-winning artist/instructor Diantha York-Ripley, of Jacksonville, Florida, was the juror who whittled down the 406 entries from 22 states to the final 73 exhibitors.

More than $4,000 in cash and prizes were awarded at the show, which was attended by over 200 artists and art enthusiasts from across the state.

The first place top honor went to Baton Rouge artist Jane Flowers for her oil painting “Taking the Short Cut.” Second place was awarded to Margaret Bayalis, of St. Petersburg, Florida, for her painting “Emerging.” Third place went to Lynn M. Washauer, of Baton Rouge, for her painting “Clearing Skies.”

Merit Awards went to Kathy Chesney, Marilyn Sears Bourbon, Maria Ruggeiro, Miguel Malagon, Elizabeth Whitley and Betty Efferson. Honorable Mentions went to Ernie Fournet, Jorge Leon, Denice Ducote, Arlene Austin Earhart, Kathleen Durdin and Cheri Fry.
