Acclaimed bassist Edgar Meyer will perform a recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, in the LSU School of Music Recital Hall on Dalrymple Drive.
Hailed by the New Yorker as the “most remarkable virtuoso of his instrument,” Meyer’s unparalleled bass playing and gift for composition have brought him international acclaim.
Meyer’s “Double Concerto for Double Bass and Violin” premiered in 2012 with violinist Joshua Bell at the Tanglewood Music Festival with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He joined cellist Yo-Yo Ma on “The Goat Rodeo Sessions” CD, which was awarded the 2012 Grammy award for Best Folk Album.
