Season tickets are on sale for the Louisiana Sinfonietta’s 2014-15 season.
This year marks the ensemble’s 32nd season. All performances will begin at 2 p.m. in the LSU School of Music Recital Hall on Dalrymple Drive. Dinos Constantinides is the conductor and music director.
The first performance is Sunday, Oct. 12, and will feature guest solos by pianists Jamie and Michael Gurt and violists Espen Lilleslatten and Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. The concert also will feature the premiere of LSU percussion professor Brett Dietz’s composition, “Existential Elevator.”
Next is the concert, “Music from Europe,” on Sunday, Nov. 15, featuring solos by flutist Esther Waite, and harpist Gabriela Werries.
On Jan. 25, the Sinfonietta will perform its annual “Music for the Young at Heart” concert, featuring a solo by violinist Lin He. Jovan Zivkovic will conduct part of this concert, which will include Judy Constantinides’ adaptation of “Porridge.”
The Sinfonietta will perform “Music from Europe II” on Sunday, March 4, featuring solos by soprano Sandra Moon, cellists Isaac Casal and Paul Christopher, harpist Gabriela Werries and pianist Michael Gurt.
The season will conclude on Sunday, April 19, with the Sinfonietta spotlighting its members soloing in Antonio Vivaldia’s “Concerto for Four Violins in B minor.” Other featured soloists will be saxophonist Griffin Campbell, cellist Isaac Casal, soprano Loraine Sims, violinist Lauren Davis and pianist Peter Muir.
