Manship Theatre at the Shaw Center for the Arts has named Melanie Couvillon as its executive director.
Couvillon, who has been serving as interim director since September 2015, has worked at Manship Theatre since 2010 as the director of family programming and events.
Prior to Manship, Melanie Couvillon was executive director of Playmakers of Baton Rouge and was the first director of the Community School for the Arts under the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from LSU and is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York, performing professionally both nationally and internationally from 1996 to 2003.
“The board of directors and staff has had the pleasure of working with Melanie for the last five years, and we are thrilled to promote such an incredibly hard-working and dedicated leader,” said Edmund Giering, board chairman.
