WISH MAKER’S AWARD: Dominique Edmond received the Wish Maker’s Award on behalf of Empowered Seminars on Oct. 20.
This was the first year that Empowered Seminars, which provides motivational speaking and coaching, hosted the Limitless Living motivational seminar at the BREC Independence Park Theatre to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Texas, Gulf Coast, and Louisiana Chapter.
Event speakers were Ryan Lowe, Sherral Kahey, Albert Pellissier, Terri Gilbert, Ashanti Witherspoon and Edmond.
Edmond said the event raised $4,000, and donations for Make-A-Wish can be made online at http://www.EmpoweredSeminars.com.
PEOPLE’S HEALTH CHAMPION: Anna Saltaformaggio was named a Peoples Health Champion on Nov. 25 during the New Orleans Saints game against the San Francisco 49ers.
A Peoples Health Champion is someone who has done something extraordinary after age 65 and who proves that excellence is achieved through experience.
On Oct. 16, at age 68, Saltaformaggio capitalized on the success of her Hammond dance troupe with the debut of a second troupe in Ponchatoula. She wanted to expand her “Sugar Snaps” dance team to more seniors in Tangipahoa Parish and created the “Strawberry Sugar Snaps.”
Classes are held at the Ponchatoula Recreation Park.
PANG COMPLETES BASIC: Air Force Airman 1st Class Andrew Pang graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Pang earned distinction as an honor graduate.
He is the son of Gary Pang, of Baton Rouge, and Carmen Simpson, of Mason, Ohio.
He is a 2003 graduate of Parkview Baptist High School.
