Food Network’s “All-Star Academy” will hold a casting call for its second season from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Saveur Restaurant, 4128 Magazine St., New Orleans.
The series features 10 home cooks from across the U.S. paired up with Food Network celebrity chefs Bobby Flay, Alex Guarnaschelli, Curtis Stone and Michael Symon in the competition series. Each home cook, guided by his or her mentor, competes in culinary challenges each episode, with one home cook eliminated by special guest judges each week.
The last home cook remaining after eight episodes wins $50,000.
Anyone auditioning should bring a savory dish that highlights his or her cooking abilities, a completed casting application, a photo of the dish and a photo of the cook.
Nationally known New Orleans jewelry designer and metalsmith Thomas Mann competed on the show’s first season.
