St. Cyr, Slaughter reign in New Roads _lowres

Jameion “Toby” St. Cyr served as king and Iris Elizabeth Slaughter as queen of this year’s Community Center Carnival Parade.

St. Cyr, a graduate of Pointe Coupee Central High School and Northwestern State University, is the son of Greg and Marion St. Cyr. He is married to Danita Carson St. Cyr and the father of Alexia, Jordyn and Jamei.

St. Cyr has been a coach for 15 years, with stints at Bossier Parish Community College, Pointe Coupee Central High School and is currently coaching at Capitol High School. He was elected as Pointe Coupee Parish Coach for seven years, and was elected as the Louisiana High School Coaches’ Association All-Star Game Coach.

Slaughter is the 21-year-old daughter of Althea Martin and Ivory Slaughter Jr. A 2013 graduate at Pointe Coupee Central High School, she is attending online classes with Everest University.

She is a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
