BR’s Virginia College to host Fall Fest
Virginia College, 9501 Cortana Place, Baton Rouge, will host a free Fall Fest for the community and former, current and prospective students from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Activities will include a holiday craft-making area for children, refreshments and giveaways. Attendees will also be able to tour the campus.
The school is also holding a toy drive to benefit Toys for Tots. Fall Fest attendees are asked to donate a new, unwrapped toy.
“This event is part of a nationwide effort taking place on Virginia College’s 27 campus locations across 11 states to support those in need during the holiday season,” a news release said. For more information, call (225) 236-3900.
Oak Street Po-boy Festival slated in N.O.
The eighth annual Oak Street Po-Boy Festival in New Orleans will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday on Oak Street from Carrollton Avenue to Eagle Avenue.
The free event, presented by Abita, features more than 40 local food vendors, all presenting one-of-a-kind po-boys.
To improve traffic flow, the festival has expanded down Leonidas Street from Oak Street to Willow Street, organizers said.
