South Louisiana residents planning a visit to Alabama’s beaches for Mother’s Day might want to check out the second annual L.A. (that’s Lower Alabama) Gumbo Festival at The Wharf in Orange Beach, Ala.
Chef-restaurateur John Folse is teaming up once again with Alabama restaurateur and former Alabama and Miami Dolphins great Bob Baumhower for the festival set for Friday through Sunday at The Wharf in Orange Beach, Ala. They will kick off the event with the Gumbo on the Gulf VIP Reception at Heron Pointe at 6 p.m. Friday at which celebrity chefs will be cooking their best gumbo recipes.
For $30 per person or $50 for two, guests will be able to taste the gumbos. Go to GumboForLife.com. At 10 a.m. Saturday, Alabama and Louisiana residents will vie for the “Best Gumbo” award. Baumhower and Folse will orchestrate the gumbo cook-off competition, which will be followed by the cooking of the “World’s Largest Seafood Gumbo.”
