GaitWay Therapeutic Riding, a nonprofit organization providing equine-assisted activities and therapies to individuals with special needs, is holding its Under the Oaks Equestrian Expo fundraiser on Sunday, April 17.

The event will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Live Oak Arabians, 6300 Jefferson Highway.

Tickets are $10 and are available online at or at the gate.

The afternoon will feature international competitor Anne Hornbeak, who will demonstrate the art of dressage, a sophisticated sport which dates to the ancient Greeks. Always a part of the Olympics, women were first allowed to compete in dressage in the 1952 Olympics.

The dressage demonstration will begin at 2 p.m. A silent auction will be held between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The parade of horses will be at 3 p.m., followed by a demonstration of vaulting by children involved in GaitWay Therapeutic Programs.
