CAT FOSTER CARE, Capital Area Animal Welfare Society — caaws.org or email caawsmail@yahoo.com, (225) 752-5801: Open your home and your heart and to give a temporary foster home to animals. Food, supplies and medical expenses are paid by CAAWS. You will be required to bring your foster animal to a specified number of Pet Adoption Days per month to give it the opportunity to find a permanent home.

SUMMER YOUTH VOLUNTEERS NEEDED, Salvation Army — Hope Ortego, hope_ortego@uss.salvationarmy.o rg, (225) 355-4483: Do you want to impact the youth in the community? Do you love crafts, games, and science experiments? Our summer youth programs may be the perfect thing you’re looking for! Our summer youth programs will run Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. until the end of July.

VOLUNTEER WITH THE FOOD BANK, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank — Bonnie Bordelon, bonnie@brfoodbank.org, (225) 359-9940, ext. 207: The Food Bank feeds the hungry in Baton Rouge and the surrounding parishes by providing food and educational outreach. Volunteers are needed between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

PARENT RESOURCE CENTER NEEDS ASSISTANCE, The Emerge Center — (225) 343-4232. The center fills the gap in local therapeutic programs and makes sure services are accessible to all in our community, regardless of financial background. Hours and duties are flexible.
