Red Stick Spice Company is on the move.
Owner Anne Milneck said the popular spice, olive oil, and loose tea shop will close its current location at 7970 Jefferson Highway on Saturday at 5 p.m. The store will be closed on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday to move into its new location at 660 Jefferson Highway in Mid City Baton Rouge.
The new store will open at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20.
“It’s the biggest sense of relief I’ve felt in a long time,” Milneck said. “It’s been a long road. It’s felt like construction delay after construction delay, but it feels great to be here now. I’m beyond excited for the move.”
At the new Red Stick Spice Company shop, patrons can browse a slightly larger retail floor and enjoy more space for cooking demonstrations. The new shop also features a tasting bar so customers can try different olives oils.
“Browsing will be a lot easier,” Milneck said. “The space is just better engineered. The tasting bar, that’s how we work with our customers. We want to make sure they get the right flavors and taste the nuances with these olive oils.”
Red Stick Spice Company completed expansion on its line of olive oils late last year.
Though the cooking demo space won’t be open next week, Milneck said it will be open soon with an expanded class schedule.
Milneck also said once the new location is open, the company will get to work on expanding its brand of loose teas.
“We’re blending teas like crazy,” she said. “Now that we’ve got bitten by the tea bug, we can’t stop blending. We have so many blends that we don’t have enough jars to put them in.”
The new location of Red Stick Spice Company is in the former spot of The Orchard, a locally owned store that specialized in Apple products. The shopping center also features The Elizabethan Gallery, MJ’s Café and Reginelli’s Pizzeria.
